hood for 50/1.4

Joe i have a original Waltz (for Nikkor 1.4) vented hood for the 50/1.4 i also have a non vented very discrete V/C hood which worked find on my 50/1.4 that came with the S3 2000 camera. if you are in no hurry i may be able to send you both for free - however i need to wait until i get back to the UK (early April) to check the practical usage of the vented hood that comes with the LHSA 50/1.4 lux - as i don't have it here in Bangkok to test.

very generous offer simon, but i only just finished buying one from ebay on a buy it now auction.
it said it was vented but the pic didn't show any vents. might have been the angle or the shadow. no matter vented or not.

thanks again.
it's folks like you and rafael that make and keep this a very cool place to hang out.

I bought the original nikon hood a while back on the bay. It's nice for display, but easily falls off. It was a good user, scrathed and dented. I paid 35$ and sold it for 36$ ;-)).

Sweet of you to say Joe :)
well email me your address anyway you might like the small v/c hood it doesn't intrude into the viewfinder like the vented ones. I swapped the original Nikkor one before i broke up the S3 kit - it really came into the viewfinder. The vented certainly helps but the waltz is a bigger shade than the VC but much smaller than the Nikkor.

actually i think i've also got a small 40.5 hood as well u might like always good to have a few around....

Kevin at Kevin Cameras where i buy stuff ,told me the original ones go for a song and if you think these prices are bad you should see the prices for the Nikon Noct.

New? Used?

wayne, my nikon s2 & 50/1.4 is in the mail from furcafe.
might be here by the end of the week if i'm lucky.

joe

I can't keep up with you. I thought you were done eh?:D

If the 50 is an original (1950s) version, we could exume the "2 people, same lens" project from last year.

Good luck with the hood search. It sounds like you are all set.

Recently I purchased an S2 on consignment from a collector at a local shop. The camera had, they said, the original filter and sunshade. The shade was a srew in metal silver, in color, model. That black model on ebay looks more like 1960's vintage. The push-in screw mounts are similar to the original lens cap I have for a Nikkormat FTn purchased 1970.

Nikon switched from chrome screw-in hoods to black clip-ons around the same time that they changed the lens barrels from heavy chrome on brass to a lighter weight black finished alloy. I think this started around '54-55.

One of these 35/1.8 hoods with a box sold last month for $385. It actually did not go as high as I thought it would.
