How about some self portraits

Peter, I have heard about renting a full auto AK in Vietnam. Not reason enough to go there but if I were there, I might try it myself. Must have been fun. The man coming out of the tunnel was pretty cool also. Like Pop goes the weasle. I have talked to a man who did tunnel rat duty during the war. Scarry stuff.

The rifle range is at Cu Chi. It seems that the museum is run by soldiers and they even have Vietcong veterans working as tour guides and story tellers. The range only accepts US dollars and it costs me $20 for the 20 rounds I shot with the AK 47 (ChiCom Version) and M1 carbine. The tunnel is really very hot and stuffy. The small tunnel that the guide came out from is so small that when I tried entering it, I got stuck! The guides and my wife have to really work to pull me out! I have nothing but respect for the Nam tunnel rats as the short 15 minutes underground nearly gave me claustrophobia! :D

G'evening. So here I am with my first post. Wish me a pleasant membership

cheers&have a good light today (ok...tomorrow!)

Welcome, Pherdinand... Snapped by the Rollei on self-timer... or a third camera?

Hello Pherdinand! Welcome to the forum. Nice TLRs you got there. :D

thanks, guys. Well, i confess, i took the picture with a digital that i borrowed. But the discovery of the TLR remains my most pleasant photographic surprise. (Nope, I don't have a leica.)

If you mount two tlrs side by side, you'll get a twin(twin lens reflex) camera. Actually I thought of mounting a few together - how many would I need for a 360 deg panorama shot?:)

Richard, here's your chance: we can swap my yashi and your bessa (including the 2 x 2 lenses)...deal?:)

***edited: Sorry, i messed up something...it's backalleyphoto who has the bessa, not you, richard:) so, there goes your "chance".***

cheers
ph

put two tlr's together and you've got a stereo project. see http://www.angelfire.com/ca/erker/twin225.html

i probably should have stopped at two, but couldn't get enough. i have two autocords, a diacord, a yashica d and a ciroflex. now when am i going to finally use one of them to take a good self-portrait?

A group of different shots. Some self-portraits. I took a short photography break from 1990-2000 ... was pretty busy with career stuff (what a waste of 10 years).

Worst photo: Should be obvious. Can you say labor camp refugee (certainly has that look). This was on my military ID for three years before I finally got it replaced.

Hi Mike,

Love your website, especially the page on the Bessa R and Color Skopar 35mm/2.5 P. Its information is the primary reason that I use CV products now.

Regards,
Peter
