Just got a nice Zorki5, from Clarence. Never had a bottom loader before. does anyone know a good link to proper loading instructions? Or a manual? (can be in russian)

thanks

wait, but do you really cut the leaders to this very specified form: 22mm wide 85mm long straight etc.? Is this really necessary?

No, nothing special to be done.

With normal 35mm film (I didn't think there was any other kind)

hook the leader into the removeable spool hook, put the spool back into the camera, tighten it up, wind on, wind on, all good? Cover back on, wind on, rewind lever turning? wind on - start taking photos.

Not critical, really. The point of the leader is to allow the film to clear the lower sprockets as you load them. As long as it's thin at the part where it has to clear the lower sprockets, you'll be fine.

I used to cut my leaders with a pair of scissors into approximate shape and it worked fine. Then I had a fit and bought an Ablon template on Ebay. It is easier that way, but not essential at all. All praise the Z5 - it's one of my favourites.
