LOL, I should've offered 'cats' as an option as well...I know my cat is one of my main subjects...(not always a willing subjectif might add)
Oh, I looked back at the poll; I didn't choose 'professional work' there as I thought street just fits more, it's really the camera I use for that mostly. But they go together. I might not be the only one.
And I occasionally shoot a landscape with an rf too. And portraits. And my husband. And friends. And a building. But street is dominant, for sure.
Now that I think about it, I don't think I actually took photos of the cats with it.. not yet :0 that is kind of weird, as they're usually the first ones to be used as test subjects whenever I have "a new toy"...![]()

hi I am somewhat new to the forums...
I take my rangefinder everywhere mostly to shoot street and also my family photos.
you could have added dog to the options, I really like taking my dog's pics, she is a born poser. just point a camera at her and she sits down and looks pretty... LOL

As I use one maybe once a year I vote for "not at all". It's a bit a lie but closest to the truth.

Same story here.. Used to shoot RF a lot, but over the last two years a mirrorless digital (NEX) gradually took its place.

My rangefinder has two outputs.
Taking photos and keeping me cozy in bed.
Sounds more like an input.

I love and use My M* cameras on the streets and in my working place or on any assignments on reportage stye shooting. They are ( RFS ) deadly tools in general for documentary work.

Little to say
I like candid photography in general. I like street photography but living in the suburbs makes it hard - I generally just like to take pictures of friends or people I see who are interesting. Or dogs.
Grape,
Urban street, urban decay; it's all been done to death, everyone trying to be HCB. I live in the city and when I go to the suburbs I'm amazed at the creepy, Stepford Stuff I see. You're immersed in it! You're lucky, if you'd just see it.
PS - I'm a cat person, but dogs are cool too.

Shoot.
I carry it around with me —*that's how I use it. I only use SLRs when I want close focusing or really long lenses.

Forgot to mention that my second Oly 35RC having a stuck shutter is being used as a good looking paper weight.

I carry a rangefinder around most of the time because for some reason or another a lot of my photographs are in very low light situations.
Rangefinders let me have the best quality photo (From a lens perspective) in a very small sized package, and most importantly cheaper than a modern DSLR getup.
When I'm doing model shots and stuff though I usually break out the DSLR (D70s) and a zoom or tele prime.

I use mine for street and documentary stuff. The documentary stuff is mostly for my blog, seeing as I'm not actually a photojournalist, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
Here is an example of some documentary style stuff: Japanese tea ceremony
Thanks!

As at least one person has noted, it ain't so good at macro or long range zoom. That is what I keep my slr for, but after that just about anything is game.
Mine is with me a lot so it gets used for anything from family to sports.

They've just levelled out now!
It looks like "street" is leading but not by very much, I am glad to see that lots of folks here are using the camera for everyday/family pics, same as myself.

Except macro and zoom obvs![]()
Why? I've been using my M9 a lot lately for Macro work. Here is a shoot done with my M9 a couple weeks ago.

BTW, I have an overwhelming urge to say that I normally use my Rangefinders as camera's and that I sometimes use them as paperweights.

Well, I don't have any equipment for that. I think a SLR is easier for macro.
