There's a ton of discussion about the focus shift issue with the CV 28/2. I'm not interested in that at all.
I'd like to know how this lens works with black and white film. As I was compiling some select photos for my portfolio I realized more of them were shot with my CV 28/3.5 than I thought. I would probably shoot more at this focal length with a faster lens. I usually go to my 35mm Summicron when the light gets low.
Just curious how these lenses perform as an all around and low light lens with a film camera. Also how is the build quality compared to the CV 28/3.5. That little lens is built really well.

I shoot only bl/w and the 28f2 works very well. Go to Flickr and and tag "Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f2.0" and there are plenty of samples of it. The focus shift issue is overblown. Some people have a percieved problem with M8's - others not. I have had mine since May and so far only out of focus shots have been my doing - not the lens.
The character of the lens is lightly different from the 28f3.5 (one of the great, compact lenses of all time). The Ultron, apart from the speed, is also better at close focussing. The contrast is slightly different - the 28f3.5 is contrasty - the Ultron "smoother" in its rendition.

Well, the two copies I tried were both decentred and showed a lot of vignetting wide open.
The picture attached was taken on efke KB25, wide open. Even at the width of 600 px, you can see the corner fuzziness.
I wouldn't recommend it.

This looks like a depth of field blur to me. At F2 and focused at infinity you will naturally have blurry corners up close. None of the CV 28 lenses vignette as much as the Summicron 28.

definitely not dof-blur, because the center part at the same close distance is much sharper.
