How many 50's is enough?

I love 50's, but I can't match Bill or Rover, but here goes.
LTM:
Industar 50
J8 (black)
Industar 61/LD (55mm)
Nokton 50 1.5
Cooke Amotal 50 f2
SLR:
Canon 50 1.8
Meyer Oreston 50 1.8 (Exacta mount)
Pancolar 50 f2 (Exacta mount)
Zeiss Jena Tessar 50 2.8 (Exacta mount)
SMC Takumar 50 1.4 (42mm)
Takumar 55 mm f2 (42mm)
Helios 44-7 58mm f2 (42mm)
Helios 58mm f2 (2) (39mm)
If 40mm and 35mm are considered normal lenses then:
Helioplan 40mm f4.5 (Exacta mount)
Enna Lithagon 35mm 2.8 (Exacta mount)
Nearly forgot Zeiss Planar G 45mm f2.
I think thats enough or my wife does actually.

At this moment, there is no other photographic piece of gear that I can think of that I want. (Well, maybe a Canon 35 f2.8.)
I *know* your vision is not limited ... come on ... open up to all the possibilties ...

Hi, I'm Bill (Hi, Bill). I'm a lensaholic. It's been three days since my last bid on eBoy. I think I can do it. But I needs me some more cigs and coffee.

Well, shows you how (il)literate I am when it comes to the "Steps". Which one is "Denial"?

Steps is the 12-step program for addictions. I think you mean the 5 stages of grief - Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. Denial, anger, bartering, slam-dancing, and acceptance.

I thought I knew about some rather obscure lenses in LTM, but this one is news to me. Info?

The brits got up to some loverly stuff when WWII kept them from access to Leitz glass. In the US, we got Wollensak. Sigh. In Britain, Cooke and Ross, maybe some others.

Taylor, Taylor and Hobson Cooke Amotal made in England ca 1950 for another camera which was never manufactured and adapted for LTM with an Italian made mount. An excellent lens for its time whose value is determined by its rarity rather than its current ability. Mine is clear and free of marks.

Kurt,

Did not Taylor, et al, make a LTM lens under the "Xenar" imprint during WWII as well?

And I never got it straight - was the 'Cooke' the same 'Cooke' that made the famous soft-focus LF lenses?

Best Regards,

Ah, and the Stewartry Trinar as well in LTM. For some really unusual glass.

Bill in answer to your three questions:
1. I don't know
2. Yes the same Cooke, Taylor, Taylor and Hobson actually. They still make lenses for 35mm movie film cameras.
3. Never heard if the Stewartry Trinar but then who knows as much about these things as you?
How do you find the time?
Best regards, Kurt M.

Kurt, Whoops, I meant the Stewartry Trinol, not Trinar. An English LF lens remounted for LTM during WWII in Scotland. The only LTM lens ever marked 'Made in Scotland' as far as I know.

And thanks, but really, I just drink a lot and mouth off.

And in answer to #3 - Marc James Small seems to know a great deal. I have his book on non-Leica LTM lenses, but it seems to deal mostly with European lenses. There were so many Japanese ones! I wrote to Mssr. Small, he recommended that I write the LTM Japanese book. Sigh.

Best Regards,

I have a Corefield Lumax 45mm f3.5 in LTM, I haven't used it for 30 years but it looks usable....

If anyone wants it send me 30GBP or dollar equivalent + postage.......

North of six Canon FD and Nikon SLR at the last count, plus two Retinas, two Rollei 35, 4 Contaflex, and a Minolta7s (fixed), a Sonnar, 2 J-3's, J-8, and about 3 Industars................what an embarrassing question to ask! I worked it out that it is often cheaper to buy the whole package, rather than buy the lens separately, and they do make nice loupes :). I guess age, today I notched another year; and acquisivity mark their toll. Thank goodness you did not include other format equivalents.

Lens-a-holics?

No.

My name is Brian. I have 10 Nikkor 5cm F1.4 lenses. We'll cover the high-counts next week.

er, one

er, one

Hello:

I think the answer is one. On the other hand I have 50mms looking for cameras.

yours
Frank

Contax/Yashica SLR

Contax 50 f/1.4 x 2
Yashica 50 f/1.8 x 3

M42 (I think the below is right but I haven't pulled them all out to count)

Fujinon 50 f/1.4 x 1
Fujinon 50 f/1.8 x 1
Fujinon 50 f/3.5 x 1
Yashinon 50 f/1.7 x 1
Yashinon 50 f/1.4 x 1 (unusable on purchase)
Yashinon 50 f/1.9 x 3
Pentax 50 f/1.8(?) x 3

Mamiya breechlock bayonet (Super Press 23, had to have at least one rangefinder, right? :D )

Mamiya 50mm f/6.8

Not counting fixed lens 50s. Maybe around six, including Welta folders and some junkers and/or non users.

I have always liked 50mm lenses. The Contax and Fujinons are among the best around. The Yashinons and Pentaxes are great too.

EDIT: Don't ask how many of these I use on a regular basis.
