How many different 50mm Summicron formuuas

I was curious how many different 50mm Summicron formulas have existed. I had the rigid and then DR back in the sixties and then purchased the second generation black with no tab. I currently have one that I've had for about twelve years and purchased it used. It has a rounded convex focusiong tab. Is the optical formula different from the seventies version that I had and is it different from the current on? How many different optical formulas and how do I identify them?

There were nine models produced, including the chrome variants corresponding to six actual variants. A good description with information to identify which model you have is given on cameraquest.com

Four optical formulas

collapsible, DR and rigid are the same, 1969-1979 with no tab, and the current.

There are some cosmetic and handling variations.

That's correct. Both the tabbed Summicron and the current pull-out hood use the same formula.

Well they got it mixed up if you ask me. The picture they claim to be a type 3 is in fact a type 2...

I have such a type 2, it has a removeable optical unit, it unscrews (for use on a bellows). Type 3 doesn't have this feature. AFAIK type 3 bears no Wetzlar designation, also type 3 is called Summicron-M whereas type 2 is just Summicron.

AFAIK there's no difference between these two versions, just the same lens in a new coat.
