Any digtal camera (preferable a DSLR coupled wit a Tilt/Shift lens) makes a wonderful panorama camera. Stitching is the key-word.
Not suited for moving subjects however.

Apart from the expensive sensor issue there is not much point when there is very good dedicated stitching software available ......

This (obviously at a low resolution for the web) from my wee Canon G5 and the supplied Photostitch program.

Most of the point and shoot type make it very easy to align images and stitch them together for a nice panaramic shot. I have only played around with it but I will try it when I find a good subject for it.

I prefer stitching but I own a Noblex, which is a great tool in itself.
