over the years i have received feedback from a few female members that rff is not a very female friendly site and judging from some of the replies in this thread that is easy to see. how many posts did it take before someone mentioned the attractive parts of a female?
as to the theory that women are not into gear that does not prove true on other sites that i visit that have a healthy female membership.
in my experience there is way too much negativity on rff in general for many women to feel comfortable here.

am thinking should I even vote to turn ratio for males even worse... or simply vote wrong, accidentally of course :)

in general I agree with Joe's comments, although negativity perhaps is a bit strong. perhaps assumption when posting is that "readers will be gear-head men anyway, so little joke does not harm anyone.." ?

Hi Maggie

Hi Maggie

Sorry about that, I was on your blog and saw a lot of great photos in a music store and thought they might have been you.

What kinds of guitars do you like? Lately I've had this inkling for "shredder" type guitars with flat radius necks, super low action, but no trem.

What about you?

No, but my friend Marie works at a music store.

Hi, I'm Maggie. I hang out at Marie's store a lot. Occasionally, I buy a guitar from them. :)

No worries, pleased to "officially" meet you!

What kind of guitars do I like? I'll give you hint...

:D:D:D

That said, my #1 guitar has mostly been this one:

I prefer Fenders, but I've got a Gibson SG that I love and a re-worked Danelectro/Silvertone that never fails to inspire me. Here's the Dano:

I love guitars. Haven't been able to play lately, thanks to psoriasis splitting my fingertips open. So, lately I've been shooting photos more than playing music.

wow!

wow!

What a great collection of teles. I've never seen a Dano like that one. I had a long baritone one once with 3 lipstick pickups and a "bang" switch.

I have a tele with stew mac 3 saddle bridges and maple 7.25" maple neck, but not as nice as any of yours.

Also have a LP, Yamaha RGXa2, and an Odonnell 24 fret, flat radius fretboard.

Thanks!

The Dano is from Subway Guitars in Berkeley, CA. I'll let Fatdog tell you how it came to be:

According to Fatdog: "Some fat customer was having a fit in front of the store; he jumped (repeatedly) on top of his guitar body and walked away. What'd I do? I peeled off the masonite fragments and put on a beautiful bird'seye top with sound block, and topped it off with a long-scale Silvertone Danelectro neck."

I had gone into the store the day after the guy's temper tantrum, looking for a Dano, and Fatdog asked if I'd like a custom one with a birdseye Maple top, for the same price as the ones on the wall. Of course, I said, "YES!!!"

wow!

wow!

I've chatted with Fatdog many times, and often found tempting pieces in there and some odd pedals, but never bought anything there.

There used to be a guy named Jim in San Rafael, with a corner store who took old Silvertone acoustics and sometimes put in an old single coil pup on them. He also converted small '40s Weber tape recorders into great soundling little overdriven Champ amps.

I used to collect pedals, but now only use a handful, mainly an mxr carbon copy, ocd (v3), and sometimes a DOD env. filter.

What are your favorite pedals?

Thanks!

Favorite pedals? Humm... Well, the rig in the Dano photo has some of them- a RAT from 1986, a Keeley Java Boost, a Malekko 600D analog delay and the Van Amps Sole-Mate spring reverb. I've almost always had an E-H Deluxe Memory Man and a Big Muff, though the fuzz saw far less use than the delay.

Oddly enough, I'm kind of addicted to distortion pedals. Here's my collection, as of a year ago:

From the bottom, L-R:

Z Vex SHO, Danelectro French Toast Octave Distortion, Z Vex Fuzz Factory.

Dwarfcraft Devices' The Great Destroyer, ProCo RAT, Dwarfcraft Devices' SHIVA.

Barge Concepts' BP-1 "Harmonic Percolator," Keeley Java Boost, Dwarfcraft Devices' Plane Ticket Booster.

Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi (NYC Re-issue)

I love it here :)
But I'm kinda the ultimate tomboy and was never uncomfortable hanging around with a lot of guys in general, so maybe I'm not representative of what's average. *shrug*

Anyhoo.... I'm female and I'm here ...
M8, Zeiss Ikon and I even develop my own film :p

The Dwarfcraft Devices ones are especially WILD! Aen builds some insane stuff up there in Wisconsin.

My SG is cherry, too!

Blow Eric a kiss from me and have him kiss ya back!

You know, the gallery is one part of the RFF I haven't explored/figured out yet. I just link to stuff I put on Flickr. Maybe I should look into the gallery here, too?

wow, lots of nice pedals!

wow, lots of nice pedals!

The NYC big muff was one of my first pedals, I had a late '70s, and at some point a green Russian one.

I've had a bunch of fuzzes, '69, Prescription, Homebrew, Zvex, Ibanez (still have one, and a TS9), London Fuzz, etc.

Never had a Memory Man, but had an RE201, EP2, EP3, and EP4, and a couple of DL4 loopers.
