Hello everyone,

I am wondering how much did the Mamiya 6 and each of the lenses cost back in the 90's (ie brand new)

Ive finally got myself a complete Mamiya 6 kit and trying to work out its value for insurance - how much do you think a complete Mamiya 6 kit in top notch condition is worth?? or how much do you have your complete kit insured for?

cheers. :)

In Japan in the 90s, a body and 75mm lens cost a total of Y128,000 (1,400 USD). The 50mm and 150mm were about Y90,000 (1,000 USD) each. Now, the secondhand price is about 10% to 30% less.

1430 for a complete set is a steal...from what I've seen, a used body goes for about 5-600 in good condition and the 50mm alone can go for 800...75mm for about 3-500 and 150 for about 300

Basically you can insure for what you paid for it, no?

Or, if your ins company will accept it, you can insure for replacement value. In this case I would quote a M7 since the M6 is not in production anymore.

35mmdelux has the right idea. I insure all of my camera equipment for the new replacement cost and I use the current model if the camera is discontinued. My M6 body and lenses are insured for the value of new M7 pieces. I just printed off the webpages from B&H and sent them to my agent.

I was just browsing KEH today and looked at bodies for the 6. They struck me as higher than I remember them a year ago or so. $599 for a BGN body, $819 and $919 for EX bodies. Is it just my imagination or have they gone up?

I'd say those prices are quite a bit higher than what they were a year ago. Looking at completed auctions it seems that 6s are still going in the $450-$650 range. There were a couple of 50mm lens that went for less than $700 and it's been a while since I've seen them for anything less than $800.
