A thought came to me while perusing the current film vs digital thread:

How much time do you spend looking at your photos?

Do you look at your photos (scans, prints, whatever) once and then file them away? Do you study them to learn how you might improve your skills? Do you spend hours rambling through your photos? Do you re-live past experiences via your photos?

Do you enjoy the act of going on the hunt for photos more than looking at the results? Or vice versa?

A collection of my prints permanently resides on the coffee table in the living room. When I make new ones they go on top of the pile. When the pile gets too high some from the bottom get filed in my office. Most evenings I will spend some time looking at the prints. Sometimes with a magnifier looking for defects. Sometimes at arms length with my eyes squinted to see just the light and dark masses. Mostly, though, I just look at them for enjoyment.
