How to check out a "new" classic M body?

Do make sure to test the shutter at the 1/1000th shutterspeed, even though it might look as if the curtains are seperating only shooting some film through it can determine if they are tapering or not. My M2 looked fine at the 1000th, but when I developed a roll none of those shots came back exposed.

Good idea - I'll have to be sure and shoot a roll using all shutter speeds and check the negs. If I do it on a tripod, I can even use the test to see if the shutter speeds seem consistent.
