My R-D1 will be back next week after being fitted with a Canon 50/0.95 and I realized I don't know what my firmware verison is.

I don't find any think in the R-D1 Manual about that being in any of the menus.

I've downloaded V2.0 from Rich Cluter's site but would like to know if I need to upgrade.

Go to Menu > Main Menu > Settings > Basic Settings > LCD Brightness. If it's 2.0 it will say so; if not, it's 1.0.

Unless you have an R-D1s, because then the firmware level will read 1.0, IIRC.

Note to the OP - the Epson website (under "support") has both the v.1 and v.2 user manuals, and due to the extensive changes there a lot of differences. If you upgrade, you'll want to download the new manual.
