OK, so i just purchased an Olympus XA3 from KEH (even though i already have 2 XA2's), i love these little cameras and picked this one up because its ISO can be set for 1600. What confuses me is that it has the DX film coding feature, so how do i disable that feature if i am wanting to say push 400 film to 1600 and the cartridge has the DX coding on it. I read online about using scotch tape to change the DX coding to say 1600, but what if i want to just disable it entirely. I'm asking this because i'd like to shoot arista prem 400 with it and develop with Diafine, so i'd like to be able to manually change ISO between 400-1600 on the same roll.

Would i just put tape over the entire coded area?

thanks

In a simple DX camera if the contacts are covered i think the default setting is iso_100. If the camera has manual setting of film speed, wouldn't there be a separate setting knob or something that would over ride the DX?
