How would you sell a rare Nikon RF lens?

I am curious. What would you do? If an individual has one of those "rare" lens that Stephen is taking a survey on now, how would you sell it ? How would you get the most attention for it? Would you utilize a auction house e.g. the place in NYC, use the big auction site online, advertise it here or maybe the Nikon historic society? Given today's scam artists' skillful acts, I am sure you can understand the apprehension from both the seller and buyer's point of view.

If it were really rare and so likely to go for a big chunk of dollars I'd probably approach someone well known as knowledgeable and honest, like our head bartender, to see if they'd sell it on consignment (with appropriate commission) having assessed it and passed judgement.
