How's the view through a 28/35 mini finder?

Are there two simple frame lines one inside the other one? Both with parallax dotted lines? That can't be seen on Stephen's site...

I'd like to find a smaller than the usual highpoint CV 28mm external finder... Something as small as the mini would be great... I don't look too much at the world through finders: just during the instant of taking the camera to eye level: I mean it doesn't have to be a great external finder optically, and I don't wear glasses... I was wondering if there are different options, maybe external finders for small modern compact digital cameras giving a view close to 28mm lenses? Or any old finder with 28mm frame lines only?

Thanks!

Cheers,

Juan

Frame line inside frame line with a hash mark on both sides of each frame line at the top of the frame for parallax. For me, eye placement is critical to see the whole view through the mini finder. Very nice finder.

I've used the CV mini, Leitz, Voigtlander, Contax, and FSU. They are all fine. I like the mini for its low profile.

Hi Keith,

Putting aside the preferable smaller size of the mini, don't you find those of them having the 28mm frame only, more comfortable visually speaking than the mini with the 35mm frame inside the 28mm view?

Cheers,

Juan

I just bought the CV 28/35 from the classifieds. Its about 1/2 the size of the dedicated CV finders, eg I have the CV 15mm and the 21mm. imo, the dedicated VFs are much easier to use due to single frame lines and VIEW/GLASS is TWICE as large.

Of note, many of us use the dedicated CV VFs for TWO fields of view, since the outer edge of the glass (as opposed to the outer edge of the framelines) approximates the next wider FOV, eg, a dedicated 35mm VF can also be used for 28mm, or a 24mm VF can also be used for 21mm, and so on and so forth.

Consequently, the 28/35 combined VF (original OP question) can also be used as a 24mm. However, since it is 1/2 the size of the dedicated VFs, the 24mm is only an approximation.

I own all three of the 28 VC finders. - plastic, metal and mini. I like the orginal plastic model the best but use the mini on my Leica IIIf. It is just the right size.

BTW, be careful not to lose the little rubber ring around the rear eyepiece.

Juan, I have preference with any of the 28 finders as long as they give me what I want. I lately prefer the mini finder due to its size and low profile on the camera. I wish all finders came in a "mini" size!
