HU: 50MM Noctilux f1.2 auction

Could be. Looks like a genuine auction at a quick glance. I would do due diligence on the seller before bidding though. This lens is worth a lot of money, expect to see the price go through the roof in the last minute of bidding.
 
Could be a BARGAIN? HA! This is a Leica collector's wet dream. And the "contact me before bidding..." note is a red flag.

Didn't see that "contact me", good thing I wasn't tempted to bid. Actually, I never heard of a f1.2 Noctilux, I thought and have only seen f1's. That rare.

So, BEWARE!

Huh? Why do you think this is a scam? The seller has decent feedback and a long track record. He probably wants people to email him so that he's fairly sure they are genuinely interested. I can understand this as high value items like the Noctilux are more likely to attract dodgy bidders.

You realize this means you'll end up having to buy it, unless somebody bids $1 Million on it, right? Or is there a loophole Ich about know kein?
 
This auction (and now me) has very bad Karma. Just after reading the last post, the postman knock at the door to pick up the packages I was shipping out to my *bay customers. The guy knocks over an antique lamp and watches it smash. Before leaving, he asks if I have any diecast jets for sale, no apologies. My loss = $1500. No profit this month...

I hope this *bay hijacker gets his! And he can have his bad Karma back!!!!
 
I checked previous sales from the "seller" and the REAL seller's auction pages are very detailed with lots of graphics. Also, he writes well, correct syntax etc. Tried to contact the real owner of the account but Ebay blocks me from doing that...good ol' ebay.......
 
I am a seller on !bay, and now I am becoming uncomfortable with the current climate as regards to fraud, the fees, and the bother. I get spam emails, requests to end early and bids from inactive accounts. I had one guy use the item I sold him for the weekend and then ask me for a refund, claimed he didn't need it anymore.

Back on topic, I was almost suckered into this scam. I was willing to buy it cheap (I don't really need it) and relist it to make a potentially big profit. Of all the odd things I have seen on ebbay, this one has scared me because of how close I came to being sucked in. I learned my lesson, today.
 
Current bid is up to $10,999 and a new line has been added to the listing "CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING TO : chosse98@gmail.com AS I WILL CANCEL THE BID." This was not there last time I looked. I suspect Gabriel M A 's bid will be canceled. Also, he requests that you contact him on an offsite email address, bypassing *bay's system.

This noctilux was on ebay two weeks ago.
By curiosity i ask the seller a question ( twice ) no answer.
I bid for 750$ by curiosity.
Somebody win with a 3400$ bid
Two days after iI get a "second chance " mail from ebay.
I had 24 h to pay 750$ and the lens will be mine....
So it's really a SCAM

The postman never offered too or any comment on the lamp. He wanted to talk about an item he'd been looking for on *bay, asking if I had one or could get it for him. I examined the lamp after he left and discovered the irreplaceable glass shade has been broken.
 
Too bad the deal was a scam - if the seller was for real he could have pocketed $10,600. Erik's $4K with some irrational exuberance!

Customer Service in this country is dead.

That is also why I don't feel sorry for big companies that complain about fraud-related losses. They are part of the problem. At least in this case they followed-up. Eventually. Imagine if you hadn't persisted despite their roadblocks; somebody would have already paid, and the seller would have happily parted with the money.
