Canon LTM HU: Canon P in Toronto

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I was in picking up my slides and Stan came by to talk so I asked him about splitting up the P and the lens. If theres a way to say 'no' that he missed ... I don't know it.

No problem. Stan said someone else had asked earlier in the day about selling the camera and lens separately.
He claims he'd have a tough time selling the body alone.

Depends on how much he wants and if I had any cash that day... :bang: I'd happily get both if I could but even the body would probably be too rich for me.

That's 300 for the lens and 200 for the body, right? :angel:

300 cdn is about 260 usd these days and that's just a bit rich for my blood right now.

Somebody help joe out here. :D

Well.. I stopped into see Stan as well.
While I was there I ran into Jan Normandale from RFF :)

Anyway, I looked at the 50mm again - ya, Stan wouldn't budge because he knows it's a niche market and while someone may want the lens (because it's L39) it would likely be difficult to get rid of the body. He's aware of the interest the P is drawing but obviously no one's bitten yet and his price is still at 499 plus GST/PST.

Note about the lens: there's a filter rim ding - a wee one but it's there and noticeable - the blades looked clean to me; I didn't unscrew the lens from the body though.

some here should buy it complete with the lens and split it up with the 300/200 CAD ratio, plus the taxes, (shipping cost added too) and offer it on our classifieds.

do you think the lens is worth $200 CAD?
The P Body may be worth $300 CAD.. I'm unsure about the lens though that's the only thing.

the body is certainly worth 300 CAD if you can live with a non fuctioning self timer, which most of us can.
the camera is in nice operating condition IMHO, and would not need a $160.00 CLA, shutter speed looked good even the 1/1000 sec via my quick flourescent tube test, no hang up at the 1 sec. either.
as far as the lens, if you got to have the 50mm/2.8, 200 CAD is cheap, its not a common Lens like the F1.8 even with its little tiny thread dent, which might not effect screw in filter/hood placement.
 
i would take it for 200 cdn. as is.

according to the canon museum, there are 3 versions, one has 34mm filter size and the other 2 are 40mm filter size.
did anyone notice which size this one has?
 
it looked like the " two tone" with the 40mm thread, glass looked clean, but I did not have my penlight and lupe, to really check the glass, as I was in the store to buy some Rodinal originally, but was sidetracked by the Canon P and its lens in the display case and the rude foolishness that took place a little later.
 
Let either of us know Joe (Peter or myself or any other Toronto member)

I'm downtown every weekday and DC is about a 10 min walk from work during lunch.
That plus I know the guys there will "put it aside" if I ask them to.
