Oh.. and speaking of Downtown Camera - Stan made a note to point out that he's put something "special" on Ebay ... when I got home to look I noted this:

I've seen it in person and man, it's one weird looking thing but maybe you guys here might know what it is.

That Contaflex is one of the holy grails of collecting. Very weird indeed. Incredibly ahead of its time.

Oh unholy cr*p.

Contaflex. TLR in 35mm and the very first integrated light meter from anyone... Interchangable lenses on top of it (and only Mamiya ever tried it again!)

That will go for stupid money fast. That _thing_ is why you know the engineer's ran Zeiss. Every possible tech advance in a body designed to make it difficult to take pictures. IOW a collectors wet dream :(

Lovely camera.

However, does anyone find his charges for shipping a little high?

"
Canada -$40 USD insurance included
USA -$80 USD insurance included
international customers - $160 USD insurance included "

Does not inspire confidence in this trader.

$80 shipping from Toronto to Connecticut? There isn't a 23 year old super model topless delivery girl worth an $80 shipping fee let alone USPS or UPS.

I'd pay for that for the topless 23 year old alone !!

William,

Please don't forget the Rex Reflex, a little known French 6x6 camera with interchangeable lenses ranging from 59mm to 240mm that appeared in 1949, 7 years before the Mamiya...

(Sorry for the link in French, I just couldn't find anything in English).

Thank you for the link, it's always good to learn about something new. Looks like an interesting way of handling the lens boards.

sorry, just trying to have some fun.

i just bought a canon meter for the p, it's a working & accurate meter. kinda silly as i doubt that i'll use it more than once.

oh yeah, i bought a 50mm/1.2 lens also.

takes me too long to make a post.... don't have these blazing fast fingers like the 10k posters :D
