HU: Leica M3 BIN $300

One would have to be insane to actually buy these cameras without even a clue to what the problems might be. I mean, $300 for non-working M3, when you can pick up a working one for $600? If the buyer is lucky, all that is needed is a CLA, but that would easilly set you back another $300 incl. the shipping costs. Add to this the time spent in CLA, and it would have to take a very special buyer to jump on this.

On the other hand that $600 M3 could cost you another $300 for a CLA..

Yes, but at least you would have a better chance at actually ending up with a usable camera. With an auction like this the risk is all left to the buyer. I can't see any incentives to buy either of these items.

I would ask very specific questions before committing to buy and only then if I was sure it was worthwhile.

I've bought 2 M3's that way. One for $200 and the other for $300. The $300 camera was the only one needing a CLA the other was a double stroke and the seller thought it was broken because it took 2 strokes to advance..

I will not even be given the courtesy of a reply offer. You'll see.

i don't know man, this seems like a paperweight to me. the seller has a bunch of photo gear for sale, so he obviously isn't a scavenger or junk salesman. if it were $100, it might be worth it to buy it for the body. but when you can buy a fully working camera for $600 or less, why bother? this camera also falls into a kind of no man's land void of rarity, it's not in the first 600, 10k or over one million. seems like junk to me.

two more of my cents.
