HU on BIN Canon 35/2.0 on evilbay

I've never bought anything on the 'bay. My impression is if a person sells his equipment there, it's got a flaw or is pretty much junk. If it was a quality piece, he would sell it on some forum or trade it in to a dealer. Maybe there are some rare exceptions, but damn few.

The only person I trust on the 'bay is Jiri Ecer, a man of impeccable honesty and knowledge.

True, there is a fair amount of junk being sold on the 'bay, but it's not all bad. I've picked up a bunch of good stuff in fine condition, including RF lenses from Canon, Minolta, Konica and CV. And I've sent back a few that weren't up to the claimed condition. All in all, my success rate with the 'bay is about the same as with KEH, though not as good as my experiences here on RFF. 🙂

I have sold stuff on the 'bay, RFF and Photo.net. These days I prefer the forums' classifieds, but trading used equipment in to a dealer always nets you significantly less than selling it outright.

Canon has several great RF lenses, including the 35mm/2.0.
The 35/2.8 is even smaller.

Raid yours is a type 2 with the nicer Bokeh .
The type 1 have smaller print and more yellowish letters
the type 2 are bigger letters and bright white

I have the 35/1.8 and the second version 35/2 [Thanks to Newbie]. The 35/1.8 can flare up ["nicely"],as discussed above.

This is certainly good to know. It may be a good thing that I kept my V1 Summicron with goggles for the M3, and the Canon 35/2 would be my "Canon Summicron" without goggles.😀

Notice the changes to the design of the rear elements group of the second version.

OK so the lens in the OP arrived and it is good! Fairly rough barrel (needs a clean /tidy up) but glass is great. Worth pouncing on IMHO.

I can't believe how compact the Canon 35/2 is when compared to the 50 / 1.4. Makes the P seem like a different camera.

Some examples - all colour 400 fuji or Kodak colour convered to mono with a yellow filter plug in. (sorry for delay!):

This one was fogged 'cos I opened the P - but with a blue filter its not so bad.

For interest here's the colour version of one of above as shot wih no adjustments on Fuji 400. 1/1000 @ f11 I think.
