Neare
Well-known
This is from a M6 titanium made in 1992. It came into my possession a week ago basically unscathed so I am guessing it's been on a shelf for nearly 2 decades.
I've put 3 rolls through it, developed 2 at a lab and 1 myself. They all shared the same problem.
Here's the problem from the test roll I did earlier:
These were all shot at 1/1000s within 10seconds. I also tested this at 1/500 and 1/125 elsewhere, and the bounce was visible.
However, it gets worse, these shots came out beacuse I was shooting consecutively. If I don't use the shutter for around 10mins or so, it will click, but the shutter won't even open and expose the film. So essentially the 1st and 2nd curtains are traveling together. When this happens the shutter visually and audibly moves slower, but doesn't open. Afterward, the shutter will go as normal however will produce results like those above. In the rolls I shot, for around 10 of the shots in each the shutter didn't open.
The problem doesn't seem to exist at 1/60s and below, however this could just be because I'm only using those speeds in already dark environments.
The camera was sold to me as mint and also had a CLA the same month by Will van Manen in the Netherlands were the camera came from. It was supposedly worth $200usd (and thankfully carries a 3 month warranty). But honestly, a $200 CLA missed this problem?
Anyhow, can I get a second opinion on the the problem may be? I am assuming it is shutter bounce, but I don't know if that also applies to the shutters traveling together.
