I bought an ND filter at flee mkt--what is it????

I bought an ND filter pro "ND 2.7" 400X What is it???

I supposed 2.7 are the stops down??? But 400 X ---will self destruct at the 401st. image

Why not 2 stops or 3 stops why 2.7???? If that's what it means

It looks really good has a green tint....looks really cool...IF anyone looked Indeed in sunlight its f3.5 @20th second

For your info, a little discussion of the '2.7' numer. It represents 9 stops in the DIN system, where each stop is 0.3-

NINE STOPS gosh well it might be useful---

2-3 second exposures are possible in daylight. IMO this is the sweet spot for blurring moving water...

The only high density Nikon ND that was offered was an ND4.00 (13-1/3 stops), at least during the 1974-1995 period during which I ran camera stores. This matched the highest density that Kodak offered in their line of ND gels.

May I suggest an alternative? I'll stick my oar into the water.

My recommendation is to look and learn at how the function of a ND filter can now be performed during the process stage with a computer. There are several ways to achieve results that, to me at least, with a computer and a program such as Photoshop can offer many iterations.

Photoshop costs 120€/$ then i saw when i last looked a year or two ago adobe insist on paid updates each month i think----

VERY expensive,i imagine many can justify the price and it seems to do everything But gimp and raw therepee are free

Though after printing and reading the instructions and watching youtube i cant really use it so i gave up RAW files a few weeks ago

Even paint or other programs are just tooo complicated,
