And always make sure you have the right lid for the developing tank before you have the lights turned off and the film on the reel. (Not that that ever happened to me.)

I developed my first roll of film last night, I managed to persuade my girlfriend to let me convert her walk in closet into a darkroom.
I found the hardest part loading the developing spiral. I also learnt a valuable newbie lesson, make sure that the scissors you use to cut the leader off the film are actually sharp enough to cut the flim! I must admit I muttered a few choice expletives under my breath because I couldn't leave the darkroom to get a sharper pair!
I was really pleased with the results of the negatives I developed. I used kodak tx 400 and the chemicals I used were only cheap jessops own brand. I'm going to try printing tonight and see how I get on.
I'm so glad that I eventually got around to trying to develop instead of sending films away to get developed!
