My M5s need red dots!
I went the opposite direction: sold my Contax G gear when I came into Leicas.
My problem with the camera was the noise. Whirring to focus, whirring to unfocus (every time I turned it off), the clackety shutter (try photograph people in the street...).
But I was fascinated with the design... My fingers wrapped around that camera like it was second nature. The sharpness of my images on transparencies was great... and it had a very good AF! Once you get the hang of it, you'll never get misfocused images.
The best: flash synchronization at all speeds. I found it out by burning a roll of Fuji print film shooting my patient cat Ben. Not just flash sync at 1/1000... but TTL. I never used the TL2000 (too short or low), but the TL140. Sure: you get red eye... but then, when your subjects are not looking at the camera, there's no problem.
I had a Contax G1 with green label, and the two Planars (35 and 45). My favorite was the wider lens... Just because I like wide-angles. Great piece of equipment...
Enjoy yours! 🙂
