Set the camera to "A" (or variant) , it will indicate the F-stop to set on the camera based on ASA speed. Set the Olympys to manual, any shutter speed, and the F-Stop dictated by the flash. The flash will set the output based on the reflected light hitting its sensor. I forget if this model has 1 or 2 auto settings, but it will be apparent on the calculator dial or GN table.
PS: Hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like "red zone" and probably another "blue" (or something) allowing a choice in F-stops.

The 252 has two auto modes. The red has more output and uses a smaller f/stop. While the blue/green is less intense and let's you open the aperture by about two stops.
Be sure to set the selector switch that is on the front of the flash unit for the correct range. All the way to the right is green. All the way to the left is red.
The center position is M for manual, which will work quite well on the SPn.
The GN @ ISO 100 is 55 (in feet), which requires you to set the aperture ring on the SPn to 65. This engages the "Flashmatic" mode of the camera. In short, it automatically sets the aperture for you. You must still select a shutter speed. I usually use 1/30th for indoor use.
Now, if you use ISO 400 film, then the GN of this flash becomes 110. For ISO 400 film set the aperture ring on the SPn to 130.
That's the basics. For more info - read thru my lengthy and verbose web page regarding the 35SP - http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~yue/misc/35SP.html

Also, do not set the aperture ring on the SPn to "A" when using a flash. Either select a specific aperture or use the "Flashmatic" mode.
