I hav got my 35/1.8 and here are some...

The photos look very good.
If you want to challenge your Canon 35mm/1.8, take photos at night, with strong lights aimed at the lens. Your posted photos often were taken in open shade, it seems.

The 35/1.8 is simply the best looking lens on the Canon P. And the 100/2 is pure luxury.

The Ford Eifel was one of the nicest German cars in the late 30's, Ford Germany never made such nice cars in later history. Good shot in movement, not so easy with a 35mm!

Thanks to all for your kind words. Unfortunately I can only answer now, because my dsl-router failed, I must install a new one and not everything works as it should. :bang:

At Erik:

My English is not so good and I don´t understand the words "panning shots".
My scanner is a Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400.

At Bingley:

Thank you for your praise. I am pleased with the lens very satisfied.

At Raid:

Some of my Photos were taken in open shade. The days are getting shorter and it will give suitable opportunities.

At Sonnar2:

Thank you. It was the first Ford Eifel I have seen with my own eyes, and I am already 50 years old.

At bennyng:

Thank you for your praise.

That is a nice collection of lenses, Canonist! I had no idea the 100/2.0 was so large. I just bought the 100/3.5, and it is TINY compared to it. But sharp as a tack. I'm VERY pleased with it.

I think it is funny that a German would shun Leica in favor of a Japanese camera. But I understand. I have 2 Canon P's myself. Wonderful cameras, easy to load, dependable, precision instruments. And LOTS cheaper than Leicas.

Hiya, Bingley-- how are you liking that new Leica M2? Did you break it yet? Are you sorry you sold your Canon 7?

Hey, Jim! I've run about six rolls through the M2 and I love it! A little fiddly to load compared to a Canon, but otherwise really nice handling w/ a bright vf and 35mm framelines I can see w/ my glasses. (Do you feel GAS pains yet?)

The Canon 7 leaves for France this morning. 🙁 It's a great camera, and I shall miss it, but the M2 does what I want in a smaller package. 🙂

Hello Januaryman,

a few years I photographed with leica and the leica m6 is a good camera, even if the problems the shutter sometimes made. I sold all leica equipment in 2005 and then I have a eos 5d and a few very good objective bought, but now I wanted an additional rangefinder-camera.

Myths and legends, I do not care. In addition, I like canon cameras and for the full price of my Canon rangefinder equipment, I would not even get an used leica summicron 35 mm. 😉

I strongly agree. But then again, I never owned or even shot with a leica, so I don't know if I'd sell a leica to buy a Canon. I wish the Canon was a bit smaller and lighter, but othewise, no complaints.

Cheers!

I started out with a Leica M3 outfit that I found with an older man here in Pensacola. He had bought two M3 cameras with lenses when he was stationed in Germany, and the M3 that I got was his back-up M3 that he exercised without film once or twice a year. It still looks like new. You have to hold a like new M3 to believe how classy and beautiful a Leica can be. The M3 box with receipt for QC is still there. He also had Summicron 50mm and 35mm plus a few other accessories that I still have in a box. One item that I like is the 35mm brightline finder that came in a box looking new.

I later on added a Canon P that looks beaten up, but I love using it. It is my workhorse RF camera for trips. I will soon receive in the mail a user's Canon 7.

From a practical perspective, a Canon P would work best for what I do.

For a long time I was a member of the German Leica user forum. The topic was almost the technology and the superb lenses, but only few photos.

In any case there were only a few members, who could use a Leica in the way as it should be and present photos, as expected from such an equipment. 😱

But in this way a lot of the members failed and not the very expensiv Leica!!! :bang:

I heard, that the M3 may be the Leica with the highest lence, but I never had one in my own hands.

Even though I've recently drifted a bit over to "L" land, I still love shooting w/ my Canon P. It is brilliant in its simplicity, sleek design, and ruggedness. And I love the framelines for 50 and 100. It's the Canon glass, though, that I appreciate most of all. 🙂 (And I'm still in the hunt for that 35/2.8 🙄).

I have a Leica M-2 and M-4 - and almost exclusively Canon rangefinder glass for them - and I don't feel at all like I am missing anything at not having to shell out the GDP of Costa Rica for a lens that says Leitz on it.
25mm F:3.5 Canon
35mm F:1.5 Canon
(2) 50mm F:1.2 Canon
100mm F:2.0 Canon
15mm Voigtlander <- the odd man out

Paul, what's your experience with the Canon 25/3.5? Does it hold up as a good picture-taker the way some of the other Canons do, like the 28/3.5, 35/2.8, 50/1.8, 50/1.8? Or is it too far surpassed by more modern glass like the CV 25?

Paul -- You've got some nice Canon lenses there. I hope you'll post some photos taken w/ them over at the Canon Rangerfinder Lens group on flickr! The OP has some excellent shots over there.

I've got the 50/1.8, the 50/1.5, and the 100/3.5: they are all superb, and I agree w/ your comment about not paying $$$ for a lens b/c it has an L on it.

I have just tried putting a Summaron 35mm/3.5 on a Canon 7; it looks "wrong". The camera is built for larger sized lenses, it seems. Maybe a Canon 50/1.2 or 85/1.5 would feel better on the Canon 7.
