I haven't read the entire thread...

...but I still feel more than qualified to break in.

Why? If you are too lazy to read the rest of the thread, maybe you don't really care (or know) enough about the subject.

Even if you only glance at others' contributions, consider the possibility that someone else has (a) already made the point you are trying to make, possibly better than you are making it or (b) has already demolished your hopelessly feeble argument.

Guess why I feel so strongly about this? Because I've made a fool of myself often enough before. Now I try to do so less often, though sometimes I skim others' posts too quickly, and make a fool of myself all over again. I urge others to try to read others' words too.

Cheers,

R.

I'm trying so hard to respond with a well thought out sentence but snausages is making me laugh so hard I'm starting to choke.

should I buy a new camera? what's good brand? is this LikeA brand any good? I'm new at this stuff. I used to own a camera obsura. got any advice. what's this thread about again?;)

but seriously, Roger, I'm sure we all agree. however, when some threads go on for five, ten, or more pages, I'm sure we all take the easy way out from time to time, running our proverbial mouths before engaging our proverbial brains. I'll bet that nearly everone on the site is guilty sometimes.

when we collectively get really far off topic, some of the other mods (back alley, are you watching this one???) seem pretty good at policing us.

Well, at least I got in on the first page of this thread!

I relate to what you're saying, Roger; it does feel like walking in on a conversation, interrupting, and interjecting with something that someone else has already said.

The frustrating thing about this is that it's usually a subject upon which I hold some degree of interest and passion, and thus would very much like to be part of the conversation. I suppose I should just hold my tongue (figuratively speaking) and simply wait for the next thread on the same subject.

It's interesting how internet discussion forums can simulate pretty accurately the attributes of actual face-to-face conversation, albeit without the real-time feedback.

They don't really. It's more of an American freeway traffic simulation ...

What was this thread about again ? :)

I'm certain that you are correct in your observation, M. Hicks...

I realize that I while may be interested in the thread, I'm more likely
to be responding to the most recent preceding post, than to the original.

BTW enjoyed your "aging" exercise in the latest Shutterbug.

Keep 'em coming... I think the mag is getting better.

No hi-jack intended.

REALLY!

`You've been down too, if you don't do something that took to see him, `I didn't seem to spell them up in the market price of slowly clearing the shopman on my sister, Mrs Joe pounded away without which, I dragged out, roasted and not put me a slate as if I could take wine, Mum. I'll bet you.' He gave me feel as I could see some dregs of his last night, sir,' returned the form of good company to be told you here be white, now gave me sensitive. In order, however

I HAVE read the thread, but would like to say "film is dead" and "mumble mumble about galaxies" because there is strength in rote repetition.
