ok so i went to pick up my prints at the camera store and i just walked into the camera part of the store...
i saw a leica and i worked up enough courage to ask the guy to hold it and look at it...
before he gave it to me i told him this was the first time i was ever going to hold one, he just looked at me smiled and said your going to love this. when he gave it to me and i held it, and i looked through that viewfinder and fired it...
my god i was in love...

honestly i never have felt that way about any worldy posession in my life...
it was amazing...

just wanted to share that with you all...😱

Yeah, the first time is pretty cool. But after you've had a chance to try a Canon 7s and/or a Nikon SP and/or a Contax IIa, you realize that "back in the day," a Leica was just another good camera, not some kind of uniquely transcendant experience.

I had the same experience

I had the same experience

I had the same experience earlier this year. I picked up a recently CLA'd m4,looked through it and darn near fell over.

Man, was that nice....

Interesting, the first time I held a Leica, it was a Leica III-something (a IIIc I believe), and I loved it. The M3, though, did not impress me at that time. Go figure.

Then one day I held the M6. It's been ocassional air sandwiches since then! 🙂

I am sorry James, I should have told you to never ever hold one.

My first one was a Leica M2 that I innocently asked to handle at a near by camera store. It haunted my memory for almost 18 months before I finally broke down and bought one. (No, my M2 is not for sale.)

Looking into my crystal ball I see that you will own a Leica within the next 2 years.

I owned an M3 and loved it, but eventually sold the kit when I needed cash and could live without it. But that was nothing compared to grainhound's M2. The patch is SO bright and contrasty ... die-hard multi-Leica owners were speechless when they looked through it. Well, not quite ... Dave Sang said "Holy sh!t!". That summed it up quite nicely.

From recent personal experience I suggest you never hold a Mamiya 7II...

I have never held a real Leica or even seen one ... but i hope it's going to be a memorable experience. It will most likely be much better than sex too, cost will be about the same i would guess 🙂

when I went to a store and held a black m7 I new that I wanted it, luckily they didnt have an mp although I always have that feeling that I should handle one of those before I dive into a m7

I didnt get as charged as some people but I knew that I had to have one of those or I would be missing out.

mmmm leica m

mmmm leica m

... about one half year ago i was having coffee with my oh so lovely wife. we were talking cameras (as per usual) and she was humouring me (as per usual). she then produced a halmark type card that opened up immediately. in it she had a small note informing me of her purchase of an m6 ttl an 35mm asph 'cron f2 for me. for some people leica's are and always will be a little slice of magic. i'm one of em.

now if could just get the voigtlander 75mm out of ups without the RIDICULOUS "brokerage fee" i'll take her portrait.
