I started out with a M2 and a Summaron 35mm f2.8. Then I added a Cron 50 DR soon after. Before long, I started looking around for a second M body and ended up with Chris' M4. At the same time, I snapped up a Nokton 35mm f1.2 and Nokton 50mm f1.5 from the classifieds all thanks to the GAS-inducing photo threads. All these within a year of starting on RF photography.

I brought my gear wherever I went and shoot on way way to work and after I knock off from work. Soon, I discovered what I like and my style. So off went the M4 and the beastly Nokton 35mm f1.2 - I prefer small compact lens despite the Nokton being a great lens with nice rendering. I prefer my all simple and robust M2 body with its uncluttered framelines much more than my M4 (despite its reputation) - I didn't find any difference using it compared to my M2 except for the slightly faster film loading. I decided to offload my impulsive purchases. My silver Nokton 35mm f1.2 and chrome M4 were sold at a much higher price than what I paid for them. I used a portion of the money to stock up on film and chemicals with leftover for that second M body.

My journey of finding a second M body took me through a M3, M6 classic, M6 TTL, M6 TTL 0.85, M6 TTl 0.58, M7 and MP. Finally I rationalized with myself AND my wife and finally ended up with a second M2 body. Also thanks to the few RFF members who provided me with invaluable advice. I am a happy man.

Now it is time to go out shooting!

Amen to that, Helen!😎

I also realized the importance of investing more into education instead of expensive fanciful gear. I am going to buy some books.

I just bought my first M2 after shooting film for MANY years......its now my favorite non-Barnack 35.....honestly feels as solid as a Barnack but so much more quite.

Good luck!

An M2R is better than an M2, but not by much. I have one of each.

Just to show how crazy prices have gone, my M2 was $500 and the M2R+DR 50 2.0 was $1200. The lens alone today is perhaps $1000 as it is factory fresh. One never knows unless you actually get paid. Then thats how much it is worth.

I have learnt that the simpler the gear I have, the more I depend on myself. The thought and intention behind that photo becomes clearer.

I am way beyond keeping things simple all year around. It is too late for me.
I am still happy with rotating around cameras and lenses.
I keep it simple each day.

Congrats! If I didn't have an MP as well as M2, I would have gotten another M2 long ago. Now MP is at DAG, it's very tempting to get another M2. Don't worry, we have looong way to go before we reach where Tom A (and spirit of Mr B) is at. 😉

I just got my first M2/first Leica a month ago, and it is such a great camera. I can see myself getting another for sure.

I am sure you will start looking for another M body soon! 😛

The MP is a good camera. I just could not bring myself to sink so much money into one although I very much wanted to. Yes, Tom's M2 stash is enviable.

I see another M2 in your future....
M2/90 f/2.8 TE

Wear your gear well sir.

DNG, that's hard to say. I may get another M2 for a 12mm or 15mm lens instead.

I've owned an M4, M6, CL, M8 and an M2 so far. I love my M8, but my favorite film camera is the M2. Enjoy both of yours in good and post lots of pix here.

Yes, I will! Thanks!
