i Love C-Sonnar 50/1.5

Im seriously considering trading my Rigid summicron for one of these. My summicron has some wobble that "shouldn't" be effecting me but wide open focus can be off by quite a few feet. Thoughts? I have my 35mm F2 Biogon and love it. I'm quite fond of the zeiss look.

It's no heavier. Barely larger. One of the great lenses. Listen to Helen Hill. She's sold some cameras, but she won't get rid of this lens ever I suspect.

I await her thoughts!

ut oh , NOW i'm in trouble...:D

hmmmm, the rigid is a charming lens , classic old world leica glow for sure
the C sonnar has a wonderful Glow as you know and a more 'modern edge'
which is what i'm after

Since you have the 35 biogon
(another yummy good lens crisp in rendering with a thinner plane)
keep the Rigid for a 'different' look and have it repaired
or
Fall wholeheartedly under the Spell of Zeiss

I find zeiss glass purrfect for my ageing eyes, just falls smoothly into focus, and love the 'pop /'3dness
the rich inky blacks, a sharp crispness stopped down and that lovely sonnar fall off

my favorite 50 summicrons are the dr and v3 but really ALL 50's are Grand

wishing You the Best of Luck ... just go after passionately the 'Look' you want to achieve and Enjoy !

I'll start to inquire around and see what could happen. For some reason I think I prefer the modern edge as well. if I want glow I can resort to my summar or summitar!

I give in. This lens has been calling for a while, and now I'm done for. I'm to see something offensive come out of this lens. Damn you all. Especially Helen and Danny. The rest of you aren't off the hook though.:)

Looking at all these photos, all I can think is "I bet one of them would really love an extra stop of light"

In the mean time, I'll keep checking the photos

Thanks Andy,

I like the 50/1.1, it performs well, but as find myself using it mainly at f1.4, and often choosing my 50/2 Planar over it.

The Sonnar has a look I feel would compliment my existing Zeiss lineup, but I'm not rich enough to own both. :)
