I Love My FM2n

Good for you, Dave. The 35 minutes of photography will encourage you to explore next another park hopefully, if the circumstances allow it. I used to have an FM and also an FM2 in the past. I now have an FE2. The "new" FMn is most likely somewhat better somehow.

And that is why there are different models made for the masses...

FWIW I liked my FM and my brother's FE better than my FM2n or FE2 bodies.
IMO fit, finish and feel suffered noticeably in the newer models.
Further the FM2n shutter set a new standard in loud raspiness.

Regarding the F/F2 Photomic meter head ergonomics, my hand is large but not that heavy.
With practice I learned I can move it a couple inches higher to find the top of the shutter speed dial! ;)

This is "The Kit" ! I like it !

Now I have the FM2T, I have a 28/2,8 CRC and a 50/1,4 Unfortunately I sold my 105 a couple of years ago...but I do not shoot macro or tele usually...

This afternoon, I will take the boys to their first tennis lesson! The FM2n with 100 2.8 lens will be the choice for that. iPhone for instant "mom" feedback.

What are YOU doing with your FN2n today or over the weekend?:))

Weekend weather forecast is bad, rainy, cold and windy.

I have two films to scan and post process. So I'll spend a few hours at my desk. I'll put my FM2 on a shelf beside and when working I'll look at it with my eyes full of love :D making Simo jealous :D

THAT IS TOO FUNNY, Robert!:D

Hope you can get out and shoot in the rain... Scanning will make your brain turn to mush...

Wow, never too late! I learned something today... The FM2n is easy to use shooting tennis. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Never once did I wish I had the D2x I used to use for sporting events. Of course, I could never shoot as well with the FM2n but for casual shots, it did great!

Next week, I will have the MD12 attached! This is really fun!

hahaha... I do this also.... sometimes I have my F2 Photomic sitting next to it... like Great Granddad and great grandson... :D

And when I develop a roll in my kitchen, same thing :D

Here's my FM2N kit (28/2.8 AIS, CV 58/1.4 and 105/2.5 AIS). I recently added the Kiron 70-150mm/4, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites.

And yes, that plate where the Nikon name is printed is really tilted -- it's a rare feature ;)

Keith: Nice kit!

I don't get it... Here I am a Leica bum but the Nikons are still around and I find myself carrying them more often than not. I have been shooting them more too.

The FM2n in particular has become attached to me and resides in a Domke 5xb with an FE2. I love these cameras and they just feel right. My photos are consistent and I could not ask for more. Granted, I use the F6 for most shooting because it is perfect. But the F compacts just hit that sweet spot of satisfaction somehow.

I am finding myself attached to my negatives after developing them and the final post processing yields images that I feel I have crafted, rather than merely pressed a button and shoved an SD card in a computer. I can touch the camera. I can touch the negatives and I feel a part of having created something I can hold in my hand.

It all starts with holding the FM2n in my hand. Mojo.

In another life, I would have collected the limited edition versions. They are special.

I made the same lens choices for use with my FM3A. Another surprigingly good, relatively compact lens is the Nikon 35-105 zoom...

love my FM2 too, more so than the F3 and FM3 that I owned previously as well.
my go to lenses are the AIS 28mm 2.8, AIS 50mm 1.4 and E 100mm 2.8

also have a CV 20mm 3.5, E 50mm 1.8, E 135mm 2.8, AIS 200mm 4 and a AIS 35-100mm

I've had my 3rd FM2n for a few weeks now and I'm happy to report that I now see the light with this little Nikon. Once I'd got the correct dioptre on the eyepiece it turned into my new fav' film camera. I added a motor just because, only cost €25 and have used it exclusively with my 28 AIS. Because of size I'm favouring it over my F2, F100 and F6 which now sit unused on the shelf. I haven't touched my M4 either! I like the high shutter speeds allowing me to use wide apertures even in bright light. It's noisy though compaired to the M4 and F6. I'd like another 105 but I'd rarely use it. GAS only and not need. Once again I've actually re-discovered a camera and completely altered my view of it. Same with the M9 which I really disliked first time around. Thanks for re igniting my interest Dave, j

Re-igniting? Sure, just returning the favor.:D

Somehow I never notice the shutter noise outdoors especially if it has a nice half-case on it. The MD12 adds its own sounds and is pretty cool! I was looking over my last scans from the FM2n using Eastman 5222 Double X and I really like the results with the 50 1.8. The lightweight camera and a small light lens are just too fun.
