I really, really want to use my Leica glass on film again.... I'm thinking of an ZI, M6, M5 or Hexar RF.

I was hesitant about the Hexar because of it's 'noisy' motor. Can anyone tell me if the Hexar RF is any noisier than an M8 (which I don't, incidentally, think is that noisy).

I've got an M8 and a RF.

I don't really think there's that much in it. The RF's sound is a little more noisy, I think perhaps more by virtue of the fact that the shutter and motor are higher pitched.

For what it's worth, although the shutter/motor is slightly louder I find the sound from the Hexar is nicer than that of the M8 - if you know what I mean. 🙂

They are extremely very nice cameras, but if you're going back to film for the sake of it perhaps the more manual nature of the M6 would be a good thing.

Best give one a go before you buy.

Bob.
