Artisan&Artist for me. Had a Luigi, tossed it away for A&A - much better.

Interesting. How was it better? I've never used a Luigi strap but I've always heard them highly praised. But I can't imagine significantly nicer straps than A&A, of which my wfe and I have several.

As I once suggested before, cannibalise a (used) Hasselblad strap, this one is very strong because it was designed for much heavier camera.

I love my Luigi straps. I also have an A&A black leather strap that I'm not using since it's not quite as long and I wear my cameras bandolier style. Would be happy to sell the A&A strap for what I paid another rff member which is only $20 since it has a small nick in it. PM me if anyone is interested (so we can take this offline).

You should love the strap, and it's easily sold if you don't.

I loved the look of the Kangaroo plait.. I'd love one of those in a legal leather. It combines stylish looks with the security of the multiple strands of leather. Might be interesting to see something similar from Luigi, in that fine supple leather, and with his superb craftsmanship.

So far, all of the straps I've seen in this post attach to the body lugs of the camera...

Any suggestions for replacement straps for the leather case itself - particularly the early style where the strap wrapped all the way under the bottom of the case ?

( I don't particularly trust the straps that are rivetted to the sides of the case. )

( I guess fixing the strap to the body lugs is the most secure method, but then there's the issue of scratching the trim and imposing wear on the lugs... )

Putting a little leather circle over the lug before connecting the strap (like with Luigi's) you won't damage the trim at all I would imagine.

I was recently in the market for a neck and wrist strap for my IIIf RD ST. I bought the A&A and the Luigi. The A&A is a lovely and fine piece. The Luigi is unsurpassed with beauty and has that period piece stytle. Which is suitable for a period piece Leica (your IIIf), any Leica for that matter.

I can not say enough about Luigi's customer service. The man is simply awesome; very much the gentleman!

I agree 100%.

His strap is very good indeed, and will improve over the years that I use it.

If I were ever to sell my camera I'd keep the strap.

I have to second that, Luigi is a gentlman – and I can pay a man no higher a compliment than that.

I adore his straps, I have three currently and I'm thinking of adding a fourth. They've got the same they-don't-make-em-like-that-anymore quality that a good classic rangefinder has (although in this case of course, they still do). And the smell! Wonderful things.

I've never tried an Artisan & Artist strap, but I know they made the Voigtlander deluxe cloth strap (and still sell it under the A&A brand as an entry-level model), and those were really quite nice. Not as nice as one of Luigi's though.
