I Need Help From A Vintage Electircal Pro

Help!

Today I picked up a beautiful 1937 vintage Leitz VIIIs slide projector. It is absolutely beautiful condition (especially considering its age) and included the original Hektor 85/2.5 lens, three working vintage bulbs (one Edison Mazda Canadian General Electric lamp in original cardboard wrap, and two Osram lamps, all 200 watt), original instruction book, carrying case, and dual sliding slide holders. And everything works. Only problem is, the original cord is a bit frayed. It works fine but could be dangerous. I have no problem rewiring the cord with a new cord but would like to keep it as close to original as possible. And therein lays my problem, and my need for help.

With the interest in things vintage these days, and a lot of that likely being vintage electrical, I would think there might be a supplier of newly made vintage type cotton (or what-have-you) insulated electrical cord. I kind of hate to replace the cord with a modern rubber insulated cord because it would look out of place. I intend to use this projector as it was meant to be but would like to make it safe to use without fear of a cord short, and possible fire. Might anyone out there in RFF land know of a supplier of replica vintage electircal cord for use in restoration of this fine Leitz projector and other vintage electrical things such as old radios?

restore vintage tube guitar amps. They have power cords, plugs, radio dials, tubes, etc
I think they are in Nevada...They will have what you need.

For us El Cheapos. I just hunt up an old electric clothes iron with a good cord. 🙂

Now that is exactly why I put the question here. The talent and knowledge base here is amazing. I see old clothes irons quite frequently at garage sales and flea markets but didn't make the connection. Thanks ever so much for that tip!

Once again, thank you for your help. I ordered some woven cotton insulated power cord from Tubes and More, and it is on its way. My 1937 vintage Leitz projector will be working and looking as new shortly.

Oh, btw, they're located in Arizona, not that far from me.
