This has nothing to do with cameras, but bass guitars. Kind of my start for all things commie. My sister brought this back from her year in Russia for me back in 1991. I have no idea what this says and would really like to know. If any of you can give me a translation, that would be great! TIA

it was made in Rostov-on-Don in the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic at Klavishny industries. I'd need to dig out my dictionary for the rest, my russian is rusty, I've been studying Spanish the last few years instead.

Republic Industrial Holding for misical instrument production
"Rosmyzprom" this is a name meaning Russian Musical Manufacturing
MPO - some abbreviation of the factory, not sure; Caucas the name of the factory
Factory for keyboards musical instruments
Rostov-Don this is the city
Electric Guitar Bass-2

price 165 rubels

A little note: Factory of musical instruments is also called `Rostov-on-Don` and located in the same city as well.

`Bass-2` is name of guitar

Let's see a picture of the bass ?

(used to play a bit & modded mine for a better sound by setting up as a 3-pickup bass)

Alright Peter here ya go

It needs some new strings and I need to get around to actually changing out the output jack. Other than that she is in surprisingly good shape for sitting in the closet for close to 20 years

Oh, thanks for the translation help. I have saved it so I won't forget.

My sister said that at the time she bought it, 165 rubbles was about 5 bucks! She left Moscow three weeks before the fall. I still have a commie flag she stole from the Kremlin wall the night before May Day:D She went to the University of Moscow and Leningrad while she was there. The first week she was in Moscow, she went and bought some food. She spent about 150 rubbles on some rice, meat and some other stuff. She thought she did great, until she learned that students at the time had a monthly allotment of 160 rubbles. Needless to say she bought a lot of stuff for a lot of her friends.

Well and later it was even less, in 1997 it stood at something like 5000 rubles to the dollar IIRC ;) I'm talking about the period before inflation kicked in in the 1990s.
