I have a Summicron 35mm/2 (without goggles) that shows some haze when I inspect it. The usual repair people are DAG and Sherry Krauter when it comes to Leica lenses. Do you recommend anyone lens for expediency and maybe even cost savings?

Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I will ask John how much time it will take.

Yes I have used John before for lens work. He is highly qualified. He can strip coatings and re-coat, and even re-polish front elements, re-collimate, etc. He re-cemented a separated group in my DRS. Great job! However, for cleaning haze, Sherry Krauter can do just as good a job. She did a great job on my 50/1.5 Summarit. DAG is also just as good, but slow and rather non-communicative at times.

Sherry's contact is krauter@warwick.net Or phone (845) 496-3656.

Her business is called Golden Touch Quality Camera Repair.

Hi Rob,
Someone contacted Sherry recently about haze removal. She has some special fluid from Wetzlar for removing haze. It is not cheap.

I sent my "minty" M-mount 50/2 coll. cron to Don a couple of years ago. Was worth the wait. When I got it back, it was easily sharper and a better imaging lens than the DR/Rigids. Only problem you'll have is few people will believe it, they have this ingrained misnomer that the 1940s computer aided rigid cron design is more "advanced" but can never show better images!!

I will go with Don Goldberg.
Thanks.

I have been sending Don the difficult cases in the past. He worked three times on the Canon 50/1.2, but he charged me only once. A lens element had shifted internally.
