In USA I do ISO 400-1/60-f 4 (I read it somewhere). Does not work that well so I take a meter.

Nice add Nlewis. BTW this also confirms using a 35mm lens with the M3 as this is an uncropped shot.
First of all, I'm encouraged to try shooting without a meter with my M3. Second, I've always thought the outer frame of the M3 vfer was very close to 35mm. I put a 35mm VFer on top, with M3 on a tripod, I looked through both and it's very close.
I always prefer scanning the vicinity with a Weston Master 615 and making little Tricorder sounds, stating "Captain, I'm reading an intensity value of zero-point-eight, suggest setting F-Stop to F2 and Shutter Speed to 1/30th."
