Well sometimes I get bored and buy things I absolutely don't need on ebay. This story is one of them. The other day, I was browsing ebay and found an M3 single-stroke, with a 50/3.5 elmar, a black LeicaMeter MR and leather case for $950. Seemed like a good deal to me, so I used the buy it now. I received the package yesterday. With the exception of a couple tiny dings on the body and about a 2 mm x 1 mm chuck of vulcanite missing, the body seems to be in really nice condition.

Upon further inspection I noticed the serial number was #1110XXX. I've read that any M3 above serial number 1 million goes for a premium and above 1.1 million even more so. So you think I got a really good deal or just so-so? I'm debating if I should just turn around and sell it as I pretty much won't use it much except for special occasions.

How much would one with such a serial number and say a KEH EX rating go for?

As for the lens I read that it was HCB's favorite lens, so I'll give that a spin on my M8 and see if it's magical. Thanks for the replies.

I remember vaguely having seen that camera... and I think you got a good deal. As Sitemistick said, very fair and square, but not so much as to holler really loud about it.

I myself got one of those fair deals on a Sigma AF 12-24 DG lens for the Nikon. I won it on eBay on Sunday morning, and it reached me on Thursday... all the way from Tokyo!

Enjoy the M3! 🙂

Thanks for the input. Doesn't sound like I'll be selling it right away then. I'm actually quite excited about putting a few rolls through it with my Noctilux. The 0.91 finder is a noticeable over the 0.72 that I'm used to.
