Hello to all in this fabulous form. My name is Dan, and I finally took the plunge and purchased a Leica M series RF camera! I want to thank this forum for providing much information and insight during my search for the camera. Since I am now "officially" a Leica owner, I thought I earned the right to become a member of these forums as well. (Probably REALLY haven't earned the right until I've pushed a few rolls through, but what the hey!)

I've been an amateur and "semi-pro" photographer for 35 years. I started shooting photos when I was 12 years old. My first camera was a Yashica rangefinder, (can't temember the model #), which was soon replaced by my first SLR, purchased with money saved from a a paper route in the mid 70's. It was a Konica Autorelflex T-2, and it was around 200 bucks, purchaed at the now defunct Olden camera in NYC. Wow, 200 bucks, a fortune to me back then. I still have that camera, it still works and looks like it did the day I bought it, with the Hexanon 1.4 50 MM lense.

SInce then I've acquired some nice stuff, Nikon FE, Nikon D70, Canon AE-1, some medium format sutff with YashicaMAt and Kowas, and so on.

And now the Leica!

This is what I bought:

Leica M6 TTL camera body (0.72) and Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron lens in chrome.
All in like-new condition, in the original boxes with manuals, lense / body covers, lense case, and three filters. $2325.00

Based on my research, pretty much in the ballpark for a Leica in this shape. I'm happy!

I'd like to get some of my photos up here soon when I have time.

What Doug said, Dan. 😀

Welcome to the forum and really, it takes only the intent to own a rangefinder camera to belong here.

Your M-6 should serve you well and, like Doug, I look forward to seeing the results.

Welcome Dan! Nice kit!! 🙂 My first RF camera was an M6TTL too - that was almost 2 years ago and I still love it! Looking forward to seeing some pics in the gallery...

Nice camera!

I just got back from Portugal with mine (sorry I didn't make Spain, Oscar!) and think it a wonderful travel camera. Smaller than the Mamiya 7 I brought the time before, but weighty enough to have a "presence."

Can't wait to get the color back from the lab, but I'm delaying on doing the B&W...

🙂

Good luck- it's fun, and well worth the plunge!

Welcome, Dan. Enjoy your new acquisition, as everyone's said. You've got a great kit without a doubt. Let us know how your first few rolls turn out.
