Don't like guns.
The air bottles? Nah.
And my bride, (for the past 30 years) turns 60 in a couple of months and is still a cute little gal. (I on the other hand am a baggy eyed, paunch gut, old guy with jowls and monks cap hair loss. Wouldn't even make a good George Smiley.)

Almost forgot, like the OP I'm 68 also.
 
They still make the PPK, but don't import them to the US.

Several used out there from before the ban was implemented.

Truth is while I still get a kick out of the old Bond movies - especially the Sean Connery ones I am not that much moved to watch the later ones though I did watch Skyfall recently and rather enjoyed Daniel Craig's somewhat tortured portrayal of Bond. He was also very good in the British remake of the Girl with a Dragon Tatoo.

My wife who is Russian says he is a dead ringer for her brother, who also being Russian of course, means that adds up to quite an irony considering the Ruskis were one of Bond's prime enemies back in the day.
 
Come on, the real Bond used a .25 Beretta. That one - which Fleming had in the Royal Navy - was known as a purse gun at the time (and to be fair, less powerful than a modern .22). But guns were not the only anachronisms; Fleming's novels also had criminal organizations, like the Purple Gang, that were extinct long before WWII. He also had some raging gender, ethnic, and religious stereotypes going (and some of that was out there even for its day). Aside from that, the novels are entertaining for poolside reading. Bond also had some pretty lowbrow tastes in the novels. Old Grand Dad whiskey, Sanka, and scrambled eggs all day long. His movie persona was a little more slick. And at least his Rolexes were Submariners and not the ubiquitous Oyster Perpetual Datejusts.
 
Fleming also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and the names he gave the women in that story mirror the names given in the Bond movies.

The gun shown in the original poster was , in fact, a Walther LP53 air pistol because they`d forgotten to bring a gun to the photo shoot.
The air pistol belonged to the photographer .

The PPK is now made by Smith & Wesson in US under license from Walther. At least the US authorized version--I think the original PPK design was changed for export to US after some legislation requirement forbid it. The S&W version is noted to have variable quality control.
 
Well if we are all aspiring James Bonds, and choosing our favorite things, I have the Italian passport, all the pellet pistols I need, a leather briefcase, small cameras ...... but ..... I must have Lea Seydoux as my ....ummm .... friend, (from the movie Spectre).

They were fun to shot and cost a fortune these days; especially the original batch.
