Snausages, you need to set your T3 to a wide aperture to get the character...Your T3 shots all have a deep dof compared to the Rollei...I've been forcing my T3 at 2.8 lately to get maximum character out of it.
(I hope you stopped at Venieros...Had some quite delicious birthday cakes from them in the past)

Here, selective focus:

The half-depressed button works really nice and avoids shutter lag. The T3 also has an AFL (automatic focus lock?) button handy...

Oh, and if you get the case with the T3 you can attach it to your belt. You're not going to get any fashion style points, but it's quite handy.

Morback, I agree the T3 is very capable wide open. I try to lock it at 2.8 when possible.

Likewise, Veniero's shows great character when you set your mouth to wide open.

I often backpocket my T3 as a light meter when I bring out my Rollei. And when I stop to shoot on the Rollei, I'll often shoot a couple shots on the T3 for comparison's sake. Though I've rallied on this thread for the T3, it is interesting to look at the side by side results. Granted, it's not a fair comparison because, in this particular scenario, I tend to be more careful with the Rollei's framing (and obviously the Rollei is much harder to transport) but I think the Rollei has a way of adding character to mundane scenes.

I second the Rollei 35AFM... wonderful camera with automation. I have a barely used mint copy with all boxes and cases that I will get around to selling at some point (I own two of these cameras)...

Ray, as I mentioned above, it was a Rollei E2 Planar 2.8 TLR - not compact relative to a Contax T3 or a Rollei 35.
