If the world ends tomorrow

That's all subterfuge. The actual explanation for the Apocalypse is that the Earth is scheduled for demolition by the Vogons because it's in the way of the construction of a galactic off-ramp.

Plans were on display at Alpha Centuri.

I only have 2 questions:

(1) Why would anyone believe that the Mayans were able to predict the end of the world, yet they were unable to foresee the invasion of the Spanish army which ended their civilization?

(2) Is no other person aware that this year, researchers from Boston University and the University of Texas unearthed a Mayan Astronomy vault in the ruins of the ancient Mayan megacity of Xultun?

The walls of the vault were covered with astronomical calculations and tables tracking the moon, Venus, and Mars.

And BTW---the tables reference dates 2,000 years into the future, beyond 2012.

So much for incomplete information taken to heart by the weak intellects who inhabit today's media!

in ljubljana, capital of slovenia, we are having large protests against corrupted government friday afternoon. maybe it will be the end of the world after all...

What I loved hearing was the report on the morning news yesterday about all those folks, expecting the end of the world on Friday, who had booked plans to go somewhere else that day.

Now where, exactly, were they going if the world was going to end? Have the passenger flights to Mars or Betalgeuse begun and I just hadn't caught the news? ...

]'-)

It's a silly world. It's end will be a microscopic event.

Godfrey, obviously you haven't been paying attention! Here's a link to the "apocalypse safe zone" map. *sigh*

THAT's where folks are going. I thought EVERYONE knew that by now. :D

The blue areas on the map, btw, will be under water after sometime tomorrow. I haven't figured out if the end of the world is slated to happen according to local time, or GMT yet, but I'm sure we'll figure it out.

Black MP & Chrome M6TTL.

. . . . . both can work without batteries.

Could put someone on their arse with a good blow to the head if needed . . . . .

. . . . . have a refrigerator with about a hundred rolls of film and will certainly last longer then the three charged batteries for the M9.

With two I would have balance in an unbalanced world . . . . .

I may have to take the M9 as a backup . . . . . . could use as a decoy if someone demands a camera while traveling down the apocalyptic road of life . . . . . or a third option to give someone that good blow to the head . . . . .

It would be nice if a few of us get a chance to have a RFF meet up after the event to talk about how well the gear held up and did we make the right choices.

Don't Panic.

Know where your towel is.

Phil Forrest

I know where mine is. That's why I'm such a hoopy frood.

Come the Zombie Apocalypse I'm grabbing two cameras - an F3HP/MD4 with which to beat them down, and the M3 to record the results. Ain't nothin' getting up after a kiss from Nikon's finest.

If the world comes to a quick end tomorrow (West coast time) the bunkers will be filled with politicians who will claim that their survival is essential for a future world. Talk about a shallow gene pool!!!
We are supposed to be shipped to Planet X (Panatomic?) - I would prefer Planet XX or XXX.
I like all of those with digital cameras and batteries - obviously convinced that electricity will still be available to charge them. I will trust a couple of M2's and some IXMOO's loaded with XX and hope that the rivers in the New World will the D76 with springs of hypo at regular intervals!

And that's when we back up the cement trucks to the entrances of all the bunkers to entomb every last one of them and start anew. :D

hm, the world shrank by that map. is everything outside us unimportant or everything out of us will be under water?

Yes, yes... a fine idea. Might I suggest that we gather at Devil's Tower in Wyoming? I believe it's in the safe zone. :D

Ok, I'm sticking ALL of my good cameras (Leicas, Hassy, Voigtlanders, etc) into the Pelican box and tying myself to it. That box will survive the end of the world no problem, and it's both waterproof and floats even fully loaded... !!

I suggest The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe. It's a sensible place to enjoy the end of everything from. I hear the steaks are both delicious and happy. ];-)

No, I'd surmise that the crazies who drew that map live in the U.S. I suspect that the rest of the world will be fine.

although I have read that there's a group of people who've descended on some poor mountain town in Spain and that there is panic buying in Russia...

And I hear that the view is stunning.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
