But the Mayans didn't say anything about the end of the world, which concept arises out of Judeo-Christian mythology. The Mayan 'long count" calendar is for 144,000 days (some 394.5 years), and this just marks the end of the 13th such cycle. So it's happened before, and it wasn't the end of the world. As I understand it, similar in concept to our taking down the 2012 calendar and putting up the 2013 calendar. Happy New Year!

Hello, hello, is there anybody there? Can I come out of this bunker now? Can anybody hear me? Hello, hello.

what?
Actually, I think the world ended a few hours back, but it was a lot less painful than they said it would be.

I should have splurged on the Monochrom while I had such a rational defence for neglecting our retirement savings.

I guess it is pretty save to say that the Mayans weren't all that smart ...
especially in predicting the future.

IMO, the Mayans were pretty clever to figure things out as they did, it was the interpretation of their glyphs that was a fail. Also my opinion: the world would be a better place if all the folks who actually holed up in underground bunkers would stay there.
