Having had mFT cameras already (Panasonic Lumix G1), an Olympus E-PL1 found its way here. It was cheap. It produces wonderful results. I like the form factor. I'm waiting for the E-P5 and VF-4 to become available now. Then I'll decide between that and a Sony NEX 6 body. Decision points:
I've not had any interest in the Fuji X cameras. Still don't, they just don't appeal to me.

- The E-P5 will give me access to the Voigtländer 17/0.95, Oly 12/2, Summilux 25/1.4, Oly or Voigtländer 45mm, and Oly 60/2.8 macro lenses. Excellent IBIS system and automatic sensor cleaning. I don't know how well it works with my M-mount lenses.
- The NEX 6 works wonderfully with my M-mount lenses, and then there are the new Zeiss lenses available for it. The EVF is built in. No image stabilization, tho.

after all this talk here and all the reading I did online, and now that my ep1 no longer has a light meter (it died somehow) I decided after all this time.....that I still dont know what I would buy damnit.
I think eventually I will get an OMD just for the hell of it because I have access to the lenses to back up the system. I hear there is an OMD replacement coming in September, I will probably hold off for that to see what comes of it, and by then I should have recouped enough of my savings spent on my daughter and her first 9 months of keeping us awake all night.
But then again I was in the shop the other day and played with a Nex 6, that was pretty sweet too......but I have zero lens support for it...same with that fuji.....
crap.

Since I responded (above), I've had the pleasure of handling the E-P5 and 17/1.8 (or is it 18mm ... I forget) with the VF-4 viewfinder. 'Tis indeed a very nice piece, between it and the NEX 6 is going to be a tough call. I have lenses that will work fine for both, so it's particularly tough for me.
If I had a range of lenses only for mFT, it would be easy: E-M5 or E-P5. Either camera does a very fine job.

I don't have either, so (funds permitting), I'd be free to choose. And, up to very recently, I'd have gone for the XE1 out of these two, with an XPro1 as the ideal.
But the Pen EP5 has made me rethink...

If you want 'small, pocketable', check out the E-PM2. It has the same (or newer?) sensor as the OMD; its tiny in comparison. I use it with the Olympus body cap lens (15mm f8 triplet) for a wonderful carry everywhere camera. Olympus even packages a nice little flash unit with the camera.

Well-known
As soon as my G1 breaks, I'm thinking of an OM-D. But it won't break! I just like holding a camera body, with my legacy lenses some of the other tiny cameras would feel like I stuck a credit card to the back of the lens.

M9 doesn't provide weather sealing which alone makes the Oly appealing. The image stabilization is the cherry on top.
I use the M9 exclusively, and it sucks when I can't take it out because of questionable weather. I've been seriously considering adding the Oly. I probably will when the next model comes out and this one can be had at a much lower price. I have my primary camera, so I can afford to wait. If I was in the market for a new body today, the Oly would be at the top of my short list.
Remember that most µ4/3 lenses are not weather sealed.

I rented the OMD/XP1 before I bought my x100. a year later and have not looked back besides adding the M6 although the week with the OMD gave me some nice images but did not feel right in my hands. But here is a OMD user shots on Steve Huff: http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2013/...us-om-d-e-m5-for-landscapes-by-steve-gosling/
slightly off subject question- what is anyones insight on Fuji announcing a X-Pro II?…. thanks

I've been using the OMD for the past year. It's fast and capable - but the UI is needlessly complex. Irritating! I've 'held' the XE1 and the Xpro - they both fit really well in the hand; well made, and the lenses from Fuji are great. I bought the OMD mainly for speed; in rethinking this, it really isn't all about speed (unless you need it for sports or combat(!)), it's about vision and engagement.

PS: how could the Fuji XE1 perform with my Canon 35 F2 LTM?

Come on man, you really think this? Perhaps some just like that the Fuji has dedicated shutter speed dials and aperture rings and doesn't feel like a TV remote control?

I had the X-E1, but sold it after a couple months.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd definitely get the E-M5 over the X-E1. And the only reason for that is the Oly 12mm f/2 + 17mm f/1.8.
Good walk around FL's for me, are relatively small compact lenses, and they have fairly useable distance scales (at least the 12mm does, not so sure on the 17mm - the distance markings seem to be too close to each other) and a better EVF.
The X-E1 had some things going for it - it's a pretty small and verrry very light body, especially considering the sensor size and that it has a built-in VF, and the dials are definitely nice to work with. Where it disappoints for me is in the EVF and the lenses (I realized I liked having distance scales, or at the very least something like Ricoh's snap focus - the Fuji on-screen scale just didn't work for me). The 14mm would be my kind of lens - except for the size. If I had to stick a lens that big on the X-E1, I might as well get a Pentax K5 + the excellent 15mm f/4 Limited.
But as it is, I have neither. After getting rid of the X-E1, I thought long and hard about the OMD, but decided to get a GXR M, but I couldn't get one at a decent price here, so I ended up with a GR, haha.

They are both excelent cameras. My old X100 blew me away in image quality dept. But i have it sold because slow AF and quirks. On the same week i bought OMD for very specific reasons. I need great macro for horology + fast AF to keep up with my very active 3yo son + and great travel cam in and out dense and humid Southeast Asian rainforest.
One day when Fuji X line up reach a certain maturity in AF dept, i definitely going to try it all over again.
