If you only had one SLR 50

I would normally have voted for the pre AI 1,4/50, but that´s been away in the repair shop so long, that I have gotten used to the 2,8/55 Micro-Nikkor for almost everything. So; that might be my choice - if the system would allow those five millimeters of extra focal length, that is.

Yashica Yashinon DX 50/1.7.

Yashinons have never gotten the credit they deserve for quality, let alone quality versus cost.

But in my case, it would be my Fujinon 50mm f/1.4. I also have the Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Planar T* that others have mentioned, which is also a really great lens. Hard to choose between them if you have a kit of each. But I still prefer the Fujica ST 901 for its compactness and low light capability over the Contax 167mt I have.

By definition it would have to be a Nikkor 50 AI or AIS lens because I shoot with Nikon manual focus SLR film bodies, and since I already have the AI 1.4 version that's the one I'd use.
But because I don't like that particular focal length, I haven't shot with it in about thirty years.

Guess I'll have to vote for the Nikon AF 50/1.4 G.
Though I did just pick up that old 58/1.4 that I'm having AI'd. Can't wait to see it in action.

I'd keep the Micro Nikkor 55mm f3.5 (with the M2 ring). Great for TTL macro and a VERY sharp general purpose 50. Is 55 cheating?

With some leaway, thinking a normal 35mm lens: 58/1.2 Noct-Nikkor.

I'd mount it on a F3 equipt with motor drive so that its loud, since quite rangefinders are oppressed. Long live loud obnoxious cameras comrades.
