well, it's been a helluva couple of first days back.
my agency has a new executive director and he is re-organizing from the top down.
i was informed that everyone working there had an interview time set aside for a chat with the boss, mine was 3:30 monday afternoon.
the short side of it was i was handed a notice that in 3 months time my job would be terminated. i was laid off. needless to say i was surprised as i thought i had previously escaped this fate.
today, one of the managers asked to speak to me...and he offered me any job i wanted in one of our new programs starting in december.
talk about a f**king roller coaster ride!!
what do i do for a living?
i normally work in not for profit agencies (that's why i'm poor) teaching basic communication and problem solving skills, with the goal of finding successful employment for the client.
for the past 5 years my client base has been women who have left abusive relationships. it's a very stressful job.
my 'new' client base will be social assistance recipients who have been out of work, for many different reasons, and who are now seeking employment. the structure of the new program and the change in clientèle might mean my everyday work will be a bit easier and far less emotional.
might be a good thing, but i really like working intensely with people...
and how was your day...😉
