I'm sorry. It's not you...it's me.

Wow, I am finally logged back in, was beginning to doubt I would be able to.

I am currently working on a photo project shot on film in the Faroe Islands, in my third week of a two month stay.

I’ll check back in a couple weeks to see if things have gotten any better…hang in there everyone.

The complexity of the new Rangefinder forum just doesn't feel right. It is a pity that the structure of the old Rangefinder forum has not been maintained. Also the new forum doesn't "read" well. That depends on the graphic design. After ten minutes reading I get a headache. The structure of the site is far too complicated and is also unclear. The old rangefinder forum had an obvious structure. That is now a thing of the past. The memory of the old Rangefinder forum will turn many members off.

Erik.

I agree with some of the previous posters that the current version is difficult to use, and kinda buggy. It took me multiple attempts over the course of a week to log in to the revamped site, encountering numerous error messages along the way. The issue for me is not that the site has changed or is unfamiliar, but that it is not user friendly, or even counterintuitive at times. I think that the Home page in particular is particularly confusing. I get that the old version was not sustainable, and I am willing to hang in there while the necessary tweaks are made. RFF is a great site, and I am looking forward to the improvements to usability, but don't wait too long.

I was able to find the dark background and re-insert my avatar easily enough, but what I hate most about the new default layout is now the latest contribution is pushed to the top. The old software simply caused the latest contribution to push the whole thread to the top, which I believe is much better.

I'm also getting this error message every time I enter the site -

The new software can be set up to 'look and feel' (remember that phrase?) like the old, I actually thought that was happening when the site was down for a week.

I think it'll eventually get there, along with all the improvements and functionality that the new software offers.

This is an alpha release, hope to get to beta soon.

:p one would hope so....

First time logging on since all my moaning yesterday. This is way better now. Feels like the disaster cleanup specialists came in and fixed up my home after the tornado. So much cleaner and to the point. The cheese is back where it belongs. If nothing else was done I’d be perfectly comfortable hanging out here again, living and learning.
It is so rare in the modern world to find any organization which is this responsive to the needs and desires of its members. Hats off to those responsible.
(Again, only a personal opinion about the site organization.)

It seems me RFF is slowly improving. With the darl background is similar enough to the old version. And I could login at the second attempt. These are positive facts. Thanks the ones making the hard work.
What I stilll do not like is the need to use a different password to comment on the gallery. And to have to reset it next time, with email notification etc. Hopefully it will be changed in future.
I had to re-upload my avatar, I could see it in my profile but not when posting. So I uploaded it again and now it works.

I had the same trouble "getting in" .
I`d changed my e mail and seemed to be locked out .
Getting to like the new style .
I`d like to add my thanks to those involved .

Like many others, I find the new format frustrating, confusing, irritating. Why, when I click on Todays Posts, do I get dropped into an Advanced Search page? I get logged out after reading one thread, an "Error - invalid server response, Please try again" every 30 seconds or so; there is way too much dead/unused screen space, and I'm afraid the design logic eludes me. I have given up.

Just a random observation/question. ...

Why aren't all of the sticky threads showing up on top? Isn't that the point of making them "sticky"?

Glad I didn't totally give up. I've lurked around a little since the OT and things are definitely on the mend and upswing.

Maybe it's not perfect but I'm feeling a lot better about the forum today.
