Hi Mike,
nice series, as allways.
Could you please share your thoughts about using the XP-3's OVF with your Fujicrons and possible other F0lenses like the 56 1.2?
I had an XP-1 and wonder about the usebility of the fixed magnification OVF on the XP-3.

Franz, I hate to disapoint you but I use the EVF 100% of the time with Fujifilm cameras.

The only camera I use OVF with is the Sigma SD1 Merrill.

IRT the Fuji X-Pro cameras... they have renewed my love of photography. The last time I felt like this was when I was using a Canon F1.

It is the same over here.
I really love the OVF and used to love my Contax G2 with 21/28/45/90mm combo (esp the 21 /2.8 and the 45/2.0 are stunning lenses) and I would like to recreate this in AF digital.
The OVF of the XP1 is bigger and brighter than the G2 but the XP1 is not up to modern standards so I hoped the XP3 would fit the bill.
Unfortunately after the 2x magnification with the XP1 and XP2 Fuji choose a single magnification OVF for the XP3 which limits the use of the various lenses.
Have a good time and a photogenic 2020

Franz, the EVF on the X-Pro3 is just fine with me. I shoot a lot of street photography and usually everything is in motion when I take the shot so the luxury of fiddling around with focus is not an option for me. I use single point AF and all I try to do is get that single point on the subject and then press the shutter button.

I had the Contax G2 with the 28mm, 35mm, 45mm and 90mm lenses. And, since you brought the subject up I can see a kind of film to digital crossover between the G2 and X-Pro3.

Get an X-Pro3 and these lenses:
Fujinon XF 16mm f2.8 R WR lens
Fujinon XF 23mm f2 R WR lens
Fujinon XF 35mm f2 R WR lens
Fujinon XF 50mm f2 R WR lens

I can’t guarantee your satisfaction but if you can borrow someone else's for a day who knows!

Mike, et al, are you cropping your pictures to create what appears to me be very close physical proximity to the wonderful people whom you are photographing? Or, are you at close, physical distance?

Frank, essentially I am that close.

When I’m taking pictures of people I usually need to edit the image a little bit by straightening it up by about 1 degree or so and if there is a part of someone else on the peripheral (like a half of a face, an elbow or a hand) I’ll crop a little to edit it out. If I could get everyone to hold still while I properly frame the shot I wouldn't need to do this but that's not going to happen.

It’s pretty much the same thing for images of cars, motorcycles and buildings. In the picture of the motorcycle above the buildings in the background were not perpendicular to the horizon so I rotated the image just enough to make them straight.

I’m kind of fanatical about straight horizons. In this picture also taken with the 56mm f1.2 lens I rotated the image 1 degree to make the horizon straight.
