In an important decision today the European court of Human Rights have overturned the UK house of Lords decision on a case involving s.44 of the terrorism Act, and have rules that police use of stop and search powers under s.44, without reasonable suspicion, is unlawful (contrary to Art 8, privacy).

Given section 44 is the enactmnet that has been routinely used by police and community polics to stop and harass photographers simply taking photos of buildings in briatin recently, this is good news.
